Daniela Sarfati, actress and animal rights advocate, joins the organisation Compromiso Verde to star in a powerful campaign to raise awareness about a little-known but deeply alarming reality: in Peru, more than 29 million hens live in cages, deprived of freedom, sun and space to move around.
Through an emotional and direct video, Daniela tells the story of these laying birds, locked in tiny cages, with no access to the sun and no space to spread their wings, who can barely spread their wings. The campaign aims to highlight the living conditions on factory farms and motivate consumers to make more informed, empathetic and sustainable choices when buying eggs.
"This is not my story, but it is the story of millions of hens in Peru. It is hard to imagine that an animal spends its entire life in such a confined space, without the opportunity to move freely. As consumers, we have the power to choose products that do not come from animal suffering", says Daniela Sarfati.
An eye-opening campaign
The initiative is part of the campaign #SwithoutIngredientsCruelesThe project, led by Compromiso Verde, seeks to raise awareness of the impact of intensive production systems and to promote the conversation about the importance of greater transparency in egg production in Peru.
"More and more countries are moving towards more responsible production systems. We believe that Peru can join this change and that consumers can be key agents in promoting it. We want to invite people to inform themselves, to know the origin of the products they consume and to make more conscious decisions".he points out Sandra Lopesexecutive director of Green Commitment.
A growing movement in the world
More from 2,600 companies worldwide have already made commitments to eliminate eggs from caged hens from their supply chains. Companies such as Nestlé, Unilever, Barilla and Sodexo are leading this transition towards more responsible and sustainable production models.
In Peru, more and more people are willing to change their consumption habits in favour of animal welfare and sustainability. Compromiso Verde seeks to channel this awareness into action by promoting transparency in labelling and access to clear information on animal products.
