This is how Jaulas Abiertas 2025 was experienced: a day to inspire, to act and to grow together.

Last Saturday, April 5th, more than 150 volunteers from different regions of the country gathered at the Hotel Costa del Sol in San Isidro to participate in a new edition of the Open CagesThe national event organised by Compromiso Verde aims to strengthen the volunteer movement for animals in Peru.

During the day, participants attended presentations that provided key tools for impactful activism. Felipe LanzManager of Volunteering in Latin America, and Carolina MoreACH consultant, shared experiences, strategies and lessons learned to continue building effective actions for animal welfare.

One of the most moving moments of the event was the participation of the actress and activist Daniela Sarfatiwho presented for the first time his awareness-raising video on the reality of caged hens. The video has already surpassed the 162,000 views on InstagramThe project has become a key player in raising awareness of the issue.

In addition to the learning spaces, the attendees shared a coffee break thanks to Yurawasiand took the opportunity to connect with content creators committed to animals such as Monica Bamonde, Jimena Muñoz, Andrea Burga, Veggie Traveller y Labluehope.

Digital actions

The afternoon closed with interactive dynamics within a special event app. Through challenges and actions, volunteers scored points and won prizes, reinforcing the message that every little action counts when it comes to defending animals.

This meeting was a demonstration of the growth and strength of animal welfare volunteering in our country. Open Cages continues to establish itself as a space to connect, learn and act together for a cruelty-free future.
